Project: Construction of a new nursery following demolition of former boys brigade hall
Client: Southville Nursery Trust
Contract Value: £720,000
We were tasked with the construction of a new nursery following the demolition of the former Boy’s Brigade Hall. As well as the existing building to demolish, there was tight access to the site and in places there were poor ground conditions. Additionally, we needed to work to a tight, defined budget due to the nature of the project.
Careful pre-planning was required as there was a two stage build process. This involved the demolition and clearing of the site and then the main build of the nursery. Careful negotiation was required with our suppliers to ensure we could keep expenditure down and in order to keep the project within budget- a value engineering exercise.
The new nursery blends in well with its local surroundings and suits the areas traditional architecture. The nursery is an economic place to run and maintain and is a great community asset to the Bedminster and Southville areas. Due to complete in summer 2017, Chessel Nursery will provide much needed childcare facilities and meet local shortlist demands for the local residents.
