With a corporate background encompassing main board positions with listed companies and a wealth of experience in developing small to medium enterprises, Gary brings both business knowledge and vision to Helm.
Gary says: “We’re only as good as the people we employ and develop. We don’t aim to be just another construction company but rather a service company that puts the customer first. It’s right that we should consistently challenge ‘accepted norms’ and look to be better by being different.”

Coming from a background in general carpentry and house renovations, George brings a wealth of experience to the Helm team whilst also developing his all round construction knowledge.
George says “It’s refreshing to work for a company who value their employees and offers ongoing training and progression. Everyone is really friendly and I enjoy working as part of a team”.

Concentrating on material and stock control, Harry aims to assist the procurement process through effective yard management to ensure field teams are supported in projects we undertake.
Harry says: “Helm maintain an inclusive approach aiming to embrace customers, professional advisors and field staff in the build process and product selection. My input is valued and I feel included in the decisions that affect my role.”
Hayden’s longevity within the construction industry has seen him gain many skills across the range of commercial activities prevalent within any building company. He still has a thirst for knowledge, but this is equally matched by his ability to turn his hand to the majority of tasks he is presented with, always keeping an eye on the detail!
Hayden says: “When I first joined the company I was surprised by how quickly I became an ‘established’ member of the team. It’s indicative of the company that they value each individual but continually strive to work as a dynamic team.

As one of Helm’s youngest employees, James represents the Company’s commitment to developing tomorrow’s talent. Joining in 2013 as a Site Labourer he has demonstrated a passion to learn and develop which has culminated in the Company sponsoring him on a carpentry apprenticeship that commenced in September 2014.
James says: “I am really looking forward to completing my apprenticeship. The Helm team are always supportive and I have been able to try different trades before making a choice of which one to follow as a career.”
An employee since 2017, James brings a mature sensible approach to the Company. Keen to progress and diligent in all he undertakes he has proved to be a stickler for detail. His skill set goes from strength to strength and he is always keen to both learn and do more.
James says: “I like to be the best at what I do, and Helm encourages me to do this. It’s great to be given the chance to improve my expertise and I really enjoy working alongside my colleagues. It’s a great company.”

Jay joined us early 2016 and has already demonstrated his credibility and hard working nature to the company.
Jay says “Helm really are all about making everyone feel part of the team and have been supportive and encouraging throughout my time here. Working together, we always achieve the best result and that’s definitely one of the reasons why I think we are a successful company”.

Since 2013 John has played a key role in maintaining site standards and efficiency ensuring that he sets the Company benchmark. He demonstrates a strong work ethic and this has led to him being selected to undertake further development training during the course of this year to complement the tower crane training he has already received.
John says: “Team spirit is abundant in the company. Everyone seems to recognise their role but work together to complete the project to the highest standard. It’s really refreshing.”

John-Paul continues to impress clients and colleagues with his strong work ethic and can-do approach to every challenge. Always ready with a smile he remains focussed on providing a high level of service throughout the day and aspires to develop his construction skills further.
John-Paul says: “I really enjoy working with other people whether that’s clients, contractors or other team members. I look forward to developing my career further with Helm particularly having seen others who started off as labourers now managing sites”.

Bringing a wealth of construction experience to Helm, Jon is a construction professional who believes in a proactive approach to customer relationships and project management. A large range of construction projects to his name ensures whether extension, new build home or commercial project, listed building or modern design he’s ‘been there and done it’.
Jon says: “Helm’s reputation grows daily and it’s not difficult to see that the Company’s focus on service, its attention to detail and its development and nurturing of staff are paramount to the success we are enjoying.”
Responsible for the effective and efficient running of the business, Katie’s influence stretches across the office and field teams alike. A stickler for detail, she continues to look to improve the businesses processes with an eye always on quality assurance and customer service.

Proficient in finance and payroll, Karen ensures that the Helm team are kept well trained, informed and happy. An employee since 2008, she has been instrumental in the Company’s growth and development and continues to improve on the businesses processes and efficiencies.

A fully qualified carpenter, Kevin joined the Helm team in 2015. His experience encompasses a range of projects across the commercial, residential and domestic build sectors. Kevin continues to improve his skill set and his knowledge base goes from strength to strength.
Kevin says: “The opportunities for personal development are great and I really enjoy the way the company encourages us to build relationships with the clients. It helps make sure we get it right first time and meet their expectations.”

A qualified cabinet maker, Kim joined the line-up in 2013. His skills were readily recognisable and he quickly progressed to become a Site Manager and subsequently Contracts Manager. He obtained his SMSTS in 2014 and has already successfully project managed a number of significant projects.
Kim says: “The Helm approach is unique in my experience. The company focuses on delivering a service and making what can be often a stressful process enjoyable for the client.”

One of our priorities is keeping you, the client, in touch with everything we’re doing. From the initial brief, through all stages of construction, we operate transparently and like to make the most of technology that helps us do this.
Each of our sites has Wi-Fi and coupled with cameras, video conferencing and photo logging means you'll always be in the picture. We use smartphones for digital clocking in, which includes a geolocation option. You, the client, can see who has been on site and what they’ve done that day. A regular report brings all this information together for you within the context of weather information and a progress dashboard. It also helps us keep work on schedule and acts as a roll call to ensure staff safety.
