And finally - Busy builders defy national ‘doom and gloom’

We’re happy to contradict National media reports, which have once again painted a doom-laden picture of the UK construction sector.
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) the output of Britain’s builders has reportedly slumped by 1.7 per cent, following a 1.6 per cent fall in September - suggesting the sector is struggling in the face of Brexit-related uncertainty.
Bristol is still building and Helm Construction is still recruiting hard in response to a series of orders from across the city and along the M4 and M5 motorways as far afield as Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset.
Accounts Director Adam Marks said: “Helm Construction is currently active on a dozen sites across Greater Bristol, Minchinhampton, Swindon and Bath.
“Despite the negative forecasts nationally, we are looking at a rise in sales of some 60 per cent in 2017/18 and we will therefore need to continue recruiting strongly into the New Year to keep pace.”
