Bristol Builders Support New Plans Submitted for ‘East of Harry Stoke Neighbourhood’
27 October 2018 by Helm Construction
Plans have been put in place for a new 1,290 home development East of Harry Stoke in South Gloucestershire after approval was recommended.
The proposed development will be built on farmland which was initially protected by the green belt; but after it was removed in 2013 it has been included in the Councils strategy for housing.
Helm’s Construction Director, Jon Ticehurst commented; “If approved this will create much needed housing for South Gloucestershire and Bristol, as the City of Bristol continues to expand at a rapid rate. It will not just provide housing; the plans shown also include a new primary school, local centre, community centre, as well as infrastructure improvements.”
“However, it is disappointing that only 22.6% of the houses will be affordable. Bristol has seen a 4.6% increase in house prices in the past year, and new builds must be more affordable to accommodate the ever growing price of buying in the area to support our community in getting on the property ladder.”
