August 31st saw a momentous occasion for Bristol as the freshly branded “Bristol Bears” stormed to a 17-10 victory over local West Country rivals Bath Rugby on the opening night of their Gallagher Premiership return.
Playing in front of a 26,079 sell-out crowd the Bears withstood a great deal of pressure from the spectacular atmosphere and a formidable Bath side, looking very much like the Bristol of old competing with the biggest teams in England.
Speaking after the game Helm’s Commercial Manager, Chris Catley exclaimed “It is fantastic news for the city of Bristol to have a strong rugby team again. The rebrand to the Bristol Bears has clearly been a success with a record crowd, season ticket sales and a huge number of merchandise sales.”
Finishing Chris stated; “We were very pleased to see Ian Madigan (sponsored by Helm Construction) starting once again, with his kicking boots as clinical as ever! We are excited to see what the season ahead brings.”
