Helm Construction are cracking on with a mixed use building at the junction of Wells Road and Redcatch Road in Knowle to provide six new apartments above a commercial unit.
Project Managers Foresight PM have called in regeneration specialists Helm Construction to tackle the project on a site once occupied by Batchelor Sharp Solicitors.
The planning permission covers a roof extension to 317 Wells Road and conversion of the upper floors to two flats and building a three-storey building on the site of 1 Redcatch Road.
This section includes a commercial space on the ground floor and four flats above, along with changes to elevation design and removal of vehicular access from Redcatch Road.
Helm Construction Site Manager Gavin Cleverly said: “We have undertaken a number of schemes for Foresight PM including the refurbishment of empty units at the Crown Glass shopping parade in Nailsea - so we are particularly proud to have been called back for this project near Broadwalk.”
The office space is open plan, with the six, two-bedroom apartments situated over the top two floors.
Gavin added: “It’s great to see empty space in and around shops and retail outlets being brought back into the public realm in order to help reduce housing waiting lists.
“The smart new apartments we are building will help improve the street scene and attract much needed footfall to the shopping precinct.
