Helm Construction remain confident of the future despite negative UK construction output figures highlighting biggest fall since 2012.
Chief Executive Gary Sheppard said strong local demand – combined with increased pressure from the Government aimed at ramping up new home delivery – would help sustain order books well into 2019.
“According to the Office for National Statistics forecasts the construction sector in the UK experienced its worst monthly performance for six years.
“In contrast, we are having to actively recruiting professionals and tradesmen simply to keep up with local demand.”
Gary Sheppard said the firm had accelerated its in-house training programme and actively pursued work in the commercial sector to maintain a steady flow of new work.
“And it’s difficult to know what more Theresa May can do to demonstrate her Government’s commitment to construction.
“The Government has already announced plans looking at the use of land and a stated intention to convert more planning permissions into homes and to encourage the national housebuilders to get on with projects rather than sit on land banks.”
