Driven to distraction

Latest figures have shown traffic in Bristol has slowed from a gear-grinding 16mph in 2015 to a get-out-and-walk 15.3mph in 2016.
Average A road speeds have revealed Bristol’s traffic is slower than any other major city outside London except for Slough, where traffic is reduced to a paint-drying 15mph.
Helm Construction Finance Director Adam Marks said slower traffic had a knock on effect on businesses as well as residents and commuters.
“Getting around Bristol is a nightmare for commercial businesses trying to get to jobs in the city centre or across the other side of the city. While the South Bristol Link Road has made some impact the crazy paving city centre is forcing people to look for time-consuming detours to ensure we are on site when we said we would be.”
