New Minister must carry on building

Newly appointed Housing Minister Alok Sharma should press ahead with ambitious housebuilding targets set by the previous Government.
That’s according to Helm Construction Chief Executive Gary Sheppard, who said it was important the new minister maintains momentum in the construction sector through new home delivery - and large scale commercial infrastructure projects.
“While there is bound to be uncertainty over the current direction of travel it is obvious we need large numbers of new homes – on Brownfield sites wherever possible – if there is going to be any serious attempt to reduce housing waiting lists over the term of the new Government.”
