South West Builders Calls for Brexit Immigration Targets to be Dropped

Helm Construction have backed The Confederation of British Industry’s (CBI) call for the government to remove post-Brexit immigration targets.
The CBI has recently claimed that an “open debate” on a new UK migration system after Brexit would be the best way to help keep hold of our vitally needed workers to meet increasing demand and pressures in the construction industry.
Chris Catley, Commercial Manager supporting the CBI said; “We need to make sure that immigration doesn’t result in the UK losing its workforce.”
“For years, migrant workers have helped boost the construction industry and have ensured sites remain fully functional. However, strict immigration rules could damage this and result in builds being delayed and sites being under-staffed, this is an issue that needs to be carefully managed to enable our industry to progress at its current rate in order to match demand.”
