Project: Five luxury two bedroom houses and two apartments for the over 55's
Contract Value: £2.1m
Starting on site on the 16th Jan, Helm have been tasked with the construction of 5 retirement homes and 2 apartments for the over 55’s, all of which will feature two bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. The homes are to be completed to an exceptional standard and will provide luxurious contemporary living spaces for its residents. The team are working within an existing retirement complex and therefore needed to be mindful of parking, deliveries and information management, especially due to restricted access to the site. Other challenges included the safe removal of a large telegraph pole as well ensuring the new dwellings maintain the old Cotswold dry stone walling.
Weekly update meetings were held with the complex managers to detail progress and forthcoming activities to inform the local residents of any potential disruptions. A close working relationship with the utility provider was required to ensure the safe dismantling and removal of the telegraph pole. Strong communication skills were also required with all subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the correct types of delivery vehicles were arriving to site.
7 luxury retirement homes will be completed with Cotswold stone walls, stone window surrounds, render panels and large glazed vaulted dorma rooves. Each unit will have bespoke first floor balconies, stone fireplaces with incorporated fires and roof lights over the stair atriums. Final touches will include underfloor heating, open plan steel vaulted ceilings, inter com and safety panic buttons as well as a future proof design for a lift should this be a requirement for future residents.
